PhotoGuide to Sandy Creek Covered Bridge Historical Site
Location:
Southeast Missouri, south of St Louis.
Features:
- Swimming in a creek
- Graffiti
- Near Mammoth State Park
Photo Equipment - what you should take:
- Take a Tripod. It's dark in the bridge.
- A polarizing filter to help cut glare from the foliage and to darken the sky.
Photo tips:
Exit car, take photo, get back in car and go to Six Flags. There isn't much here to see.
My impressions and experiences:
Cool place, but it only takes about 10 minutes to see.
Seasonal Update:
July 8: Hot, lots of mosquitos. Lots of tourists swimming.
Brochures, maps and other publications:
None that I saw.
Other Attractions in the area:
Mastadon State Park
Dining:
Why not take a picnic lunch and make a day of it? There aren't enough picnics these days. I blame this on the bear hysteria generated from that Hannah Barbera cartoon series. Fear not! Bears live to an age of about 20, so Yogi, BooBoo and Mr. Ranger are long gone by now.
